Mailing lists are basically discussion groups in which the postings
are sent directly to your e-mail address.
There are so many list available that it is impossible to keep
a complete, up-to-date listing. Here are several search engines

Subscribing to a List
To subscribe to one of the following Listservs:
- Send mail to the address given (this can be done using the built
in mailto feature).
- Leave the subject line blank.
- In the body of the message type in "subscribe", followed by
the name of the listserv, followed by your name.
Thus, an example would be "subscribe ada-law John Doe".
