Mailing lists are basically discussion groups in which the postings are sent directly to your e-mail address.

Subscribing to a List

To subscribe to one of the following Listservs:
  1. Send mail to the address given (this can be done using the built in mailto feature).
  2. Leave the subject line blank.
  3. In the body of the message type in "subscribe", followed by the name of the listserv, followed by your name.
Thus, an example would be "subscribe ada-law John Doe".
